New Year's Resolution 2017
New year's resolutions are not for me! Never have and never will be.
For as long as I have known about the whole "new year's resolution" I have always felt an urge to laugh about it as I find them absolutely POINTLESS! Not only do I think January 1st is a stupid day to pick for "change" but also only 8% of people actually succeed in meeting their goals that were set as a new year resolution.
But hey, don't let that stop you from setting goals! I just don't want you to feel that you need to wait for the next New Year if your plans fail at the first try.
I believe that there is no better and more perfect date to make a new plan and goal then today, right now. If my goal failed today, tomorrow is a perfect day to go at it again. And that is the attitude we all need to keep all through the year. I make new plans or alter them on a weekly basis. It's important to have goals and to embrace failure. So what plan A didn't work or go as you anticipated!? try again, try a different angle, just go for it. I don't care how many times you fail or fall off the wagon, you need to just get back up and continue on.
"I want to lose weight / eat better" are two of the top goal's people make as their new year's resolution. Unfortunately 73% of people who have a fitness resolution abandon them by mid January.
What most people don't know is that in order to succeed in this type of goal you can't just pay the gym fees and show up and expect to achieve your goal. Very few people can. What you need is the proper motivation, amazing social support and a well executed plan that will take you through the year.
You can't just say "I want to lose weight", you need to write it down, and be specific, how much, by when, how will you achieve that, what are the workouts, meal plans, if that doesn't work what comes next, how will you stay motivated, where and who is your social support, how will you ensure you stay on track on a daily basis??? These are just few of the questions you need to have answers to and a plan for on paper from day one.
Health should be our top goal and priority always in all ways and all year round. I discovered at an early age that fitness allowed me to be mentally healthy however I continued to eat like crap and always fell into a cycle of binge eating, weight loss and weight gain, feeling of worthlessness and than sometimes feeling of being on top of the world. I was simply inconsistent with the care I was giving myself and it reflected in all areas of my health and life.
When I became a mother I would feed myself and my daughter really good or according to what I thought was good but I continued neglecting myself shortly after I stopped breastfeeding. Same thing almost happened after my son was born however when he was around 14 months he began to go through a few things, so I followed my motherly instinct and decided to try a change in terms of his/mine/our nutrition and it helped! I have been on a health journey since 2011 and in the last 3.5 years I have immersed myself even more. I have seen/felt/experienced how nutrition impacts my own personal body and mind too. This year I want to share the specifics of my findings with more people.
Now, if you have a goal or a "new year's resolution" to get fit this year, I want to help! I can totally help bounce ideas, share what worked and didn't for me personally, and even share ideas for meal plans and workouts.
My goal is to help people have a concrete plan for the ENTIRE year of 2017 and ACHIEVE them. Without the stress, without the feelings of failure, without the high prices of gyms and personal trainers. This is the year to empower ourselves and love ourselves. It all starts with taking care of our body, mind and soul.
You can't pour out of an empty cup.
I look forward to our journey.
xoxo
